How do you color with spray paint?

2024-05-25

When applying spray paint, you can follow these steps and tips to ensure the color and effect are as expected:

1. Preparation

Protective Measures: Before spray painting, always wear appropriate protective masks, gloves, and overalls to protect yourself from harmful gases and spray particles. At the same time, work in a well-ventilated environment to avoid inhaling gases that are harmful to the body.

Surface Preparation: Make sure the surface to be painted is clean, flat and smooth. If necessary, use tools such as sandpaper to smooth the surface so that the paint can adhere evenly.

2. Spray painting techniques

Use of diluent: Do not add too much diluent. It is recommended to dilute in a ratio of 1:08-1. Too much thinner may cause uneven paint thickness.

Dosage control: When spraying a coat of paint, you must estimate the dose. If it is not enough, you can use black or white paint mixed with the original paint as a base, and then cover it with the original paint.

Temperature consideration: When spraying in cold weather, wait for the paint to dry before spraying the second coat of paint to prevent problems caused by the wet paint.

Spraying direction: When spraying, spray from inside to outside, back to front, high to low, paying attention to details and blind spots.

Air pressure control: The air pressure should not be too high or too low, but should be moderate. Too much air pressure will make the paint look rough, and too little air pressure may cause the paint to fail to spread.

Color selection: Choose the appropriate paint color according to actual needs. For example, red paint primed with white primer can make the color brighter.

3. Marksmanship

Trigger control: The paint supply is small at the beginning, gradually increases the paint supply as the spray gun moves, and reduces the paint supply at the end to achieve a special transition effect.

Angle and distance: Keep the spray gun perpendicular to the working surface (90°), and the distance is about 20cm. Too close or too far may affect the spraying effect.

Moving speed: The moving speed should match the paint drying speed, ambient temperature and paint viscosity, generally about 30cm/s.

Spraying pressure: Adjust the spraying air pressure according to the type of paint, type of diluent and viscosity after dilution, generally between 0.35-0.5MPa.

4. Precautions

Avoid Build-Ups and Drips: Be careful to avoid spraying too much paint in one spot, which can cause build-ups and drips.

Drying and coating: Allow enough time to dry after painting is completed to ensure adhesion of the next layer of paint.

Cleaning and maintenance: Clean the spray gun and other spray tools promptly after painting to maintain their good working condition.

With the above steps and tips, you can use spray paint to paint more effectively and get a satisfactory painting effect.
